As usual, there are many theories about the origins of White Widow. What is certain is that the Dutch breeders involved in creating this strain were among the best cannabis cultivators. Breeders like Shantibaba and Arjen Roskam of Greenhouse Seeds, and ultimately Neville Schoenemakers, were the creators and stabilizers of the original White Widow.

White Widow is the offspring of a cross between a Brazilian sativa mother and a South Indian sativa/indica hybrid male. It was one of the first commercially known hybrids, boasting a very high THC content and an exceptional high completely different from what smokers knew before the 1990s. White Widow gave birth to many other famous cultivars, such as White Rhino, White Russian, Snowball, and Crystal.

The name White Widow is believed to have originated as a description of a feminized, photoperiod cannabis plant that can be grown indoors. It becomes a female, usually a widow, because the male had to be removed and the female turned white due to the abundance of trichomes.

The indoor flowering time of our White Widow Original is between 8 and 9 weeks. This is due to its indica-dominant genetics. We recommend a vegetative period of about 2-3 weeks to maximize yield. If you grow outdoors, you can start harvesting in early October, depending on the growing region.
